Match the kit to your window
Identify the opening type and measure the frame. Check the supplied connector diameter and dimensions. A sliding-window kit will not necessarily fit a tilt-and-turn window. In a rented home, check what fixings are permitted before making permanent changes.

Follow the intended hose route
Use the specified hose and connectors without improvised extensions or crushed bends. Follow the manual’s length limits and clearance requirements. Hot exhaust belongs outdoors, not in another room, a corridor or an unsuitable shaft.
Limit warm air returning
Close the gap around the hose with a compatible window kit without blocking ventilation the home needs. A poor fit lets hot air back in. Do not attempt to make the home airtight; where combustion appliances are present, have exhaust compatibility checked professionally.
Allow for water and power
Read the instructions for condensate, drainage and storage. Use a suitable electrical outlet and follow the manufacturer’s electrical guidance. Before each season, inspect the filter and hose.
Distinguish window types
Casement and tilt-and-turn windows may need a flexible seal or a component made for that opening. A sliding-window insert must fit the available travel. Roof windows introduce different angles and fixing questions. There is no guaranteed universal kit: identify your window type and then explicitly check the proposed system’s compatibility.
Try the layout before fixing it
Place the unit in its intended position and route the hose according to the manual. Check that doors and windows remain usable. Small movements should not strain the connection. Keep filters, water containers and drains accessible. A discreet location that makes maintenance difficult is not a good trade-off.
Separate comfort from safety
A well-fitting seal limits unwanted air exchange around the duct but must not block necessary ventilation or an escape route. Exhaust systems can interact with combustion appliances. An installation photograph online does not establish compatibility with your home. The actual layout and the relevant equipment instructions matter.
Check after starting
Inspect connections and clear air grilles. Make sure hot exhaust is not immediately returning through a nearby opening. If a message appears or water emerges in the wrong place, follow the manual and stop operation if instructed. Lowering the setpoint again and again will not repair an installation fault.

Compare your measurements with the manual: permitted length, connectors, clearances and condensate arrangements. Do not arbitrarily extend a hose to make an unsuitable location work.

If outdoor heat rejection is impossible, the check rules out FREATH ONE. If exhaust seems possible but the kit is unconfirmed, that limitation remains visible and needs resolving before purchase.
