Which air conditioner is right for your room?
Your recommendation
Freath One 14 14,000 BTU
- Freath One 12 · 12,000 BTU
- Freath One 14 · 14,000 BTU
For 30 m², a 2.4 m ceiling and moderate sun, the estimated requirement is 3.8 kW, including a 20% allowance: Freath One 14 (14,000 BTU) is the right model.

How this configurator chooses your air conditioner
The choice starts with your room. The cooling requirement is estimated with the FREATH ONE room-check rule, with nothing added:
area × ceiling height × 40 W/m³ × sun (× 1; × 1.1; × 1.2) × 1.2 (a cautious 20% allowance)
Insulation is not asked: average insulation is assumed (40 W/m³). The requirement is compared with the two nominal capacities in the manufacturer’s quotation: Freath One 12, 12,000 BTU (about 3.5 kW), and Freath One 14, 14,000 BTU; for the latter, the calculation uses the cooling capacity declared by the manufacturer, 4,000 W, still to be confirmed. The configurator suggests the smallest one that is sufficient.
Up to 50 m², the configurator always suggests a Freath One: the 12 as long as the calculated requirement stays within its roughly 3.5 kW, otherwise the 14, our most powerful model. If the requirement is greater than its declared cooling capacity, the configurator says so and does not suggest ordering it. This is not a building heat-load study.
Living room, bedroom or office
The calculation is based on area, ceiling height, sun and exhaust. Choosing the room sets the slider to a starting area (living room 30 m², bedroom 14 m², office 12 m²), which you then adjust to your own room. In a bedroom, noise matters too: ≤ 54 dB, maximum declared by the manufacturer; measurement conditions not provided.
12,000 or 14,000 BTU: understanding the difference
BTU/h measures cooling capacity: 12,000 BTU is about 3.5 kW. For the Freath One 14, the manufacturer states 14,000 BTU and declares 4,000 W of cooling capacity; the value is still to be confirmed. It is not the electrical input. More capacity does not replace a well-installed hot-air exhaust.
The 30° and 22° temperatures shown at the top of the page illustrate the intended effect; they are not measured performance.
Your questions about choosing an air conditioner
What capacity for a 20 m² room?
With a 2.4 m ceiling, average insulation and little sun, the estimated requirement is about 2.3 kW including the allowance: Freath One 12 is sufficient. With 2.7 m and strong sun, it approaches 3.1 kW: still Freath One 12. Set your own room above.
From what area is Freath One 14 needed?
With a 2.4 m ceiling and average insulation: from 31 m² with little sun, 28 m² with moderate sun and 26 m² with strong sun. Below that, Freath One 12 is the right model.
Why ask about the exhaust?
A portable air conditioner releases heat outdoors through a hose, usually at a window. If the route still needs planning, the configurator points you to our guide to installation options.
